Exploring the Intersection of Urban Life, Amateur Football, and Art in Roman Manfredi's Photography for Dazed.

Roman Manfredi, a Berlin-based photographer, is known for his striking visual explorations of urban environments and the individuals who navigate them. His latest photographic series, featured on Dazed Digital, delves into the world of grassroots football — capturing the intimate and often overlooked moments of amateur teams playing in the heart of the city. Through his lens, Manfredi highlights the raw emotion, camaraderie, and sense of belonging that come with these community-driven sporting endeavors.

You may wonder by now what this has to do with Argentina FC. We certainly agree that football, specially amateur football, is not just a place to compete, but a space for personal expression, social connection, and sometimes, escape.

Through his photos, the viewer is invited to reflect on the ways in which these amateur teams serve as a microcosm of broader societal dynamics. The community spirit within these teams stands in stark contrast to the often alienating experience of city life, where people move through spaces without ever truly connecting with one another. One of  Argentina FC core values is generating a sense of belonging and community.

Both Paula and Sin, featured as subjects in Manfredi´s work have played in the same league as Argentina FC Women´s team. Paula has kindly supported us in a couple of matches. We are very happy to support her back.

Ultimately, you are invited to rethink our relationship with the spaces we inhabit and the people we encounter. Whether on the football pitch or in the city streets, Manfredi´s images and Dazed piece challenge us to look beyond the surface and find meaning in the everyday moments that often go unnoticed.
